#1 Don’t Screw The Crew

Life isn’t like Working Girl or (preferably) The Secretary. It’s such a cliché to become the PA getting carpet burns from the boss, fighting back the tears in your eyes as you spot the photo of the kids on the desk while you’re on all fours. It never works, you’re being used, co workers will think you’re an idiot and have zero respect for you.

The first time I crossed that line, not with a boss but with a co-worker, was unoriginal at someone’s leaving drinks. I was abusing the free bar and knocking back cocktails like they were harmless smoothies. So when this shortie (literally) approached me, full of compliments and informing me I was “always in the top three best looking PA’s with all the lads” (and yes, there were more than three of us before you ask) I was too drunk to question this FHM reading swagger and found myself in the back of a cab, bra straps hanging off my shoulders, clutching a bottle of cheap wine, all common sense blowing out of the window and breaking my number one rule.

Shortie lived in a picture postcard bachelor flat. Retro arcade machines, ironic cocktail bar, football socks strewn over radiators, copies of the The Sun in the toilet, arrogance of a man who should have stood 6ft tall and well hung. Still I fell into bed with him, and thankfully before too much damage was done, fell out of bed and found myself throwing up. I made it to the bathroom but trying to aim in the dark, I suspect, had disastrous consequences. To be honest, I didn’t stick around to find out and gathered the clothes he’d managed to get off and disappeared into the night.

When I say disappeared into the night, what actually happened was the realisation I was in a heavily gated, security coded, CCTV blinking under the moon, private street and that the shortie lived next to an MP. I had taken the best option of creeping out of the house when I heard snoring and now found myself well and truly locked in. An hour of head scratching later I had decided the best option was to go via the MP’s garden. I dragged a bin to their back wall, heavy with spiked top and camera’s to stop intruders (I was trying to escape, not intrude). First over was the high heels, then the handbag, and lastly me with skirt hitched up into my knickers trying not to impale myself. Cabwise then saved my vague and drunk ass. I eventually got home and proceeded to start being sick again, shoes and bra still stuffed in the handbag, laddered tights and dripping blood from my shins after the great escape.
